I use individually assessed treatment methods including developmentally sensitive cognitive behavioural therapy, play and expressive arts to support feelings expression, communication, self awareness and emotional regulation.

Dr. Laura Mills is a registered psychologist and certified play therapist. Her practice in psychology is now located in Richmond BC, following her practice in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Vancouver Island. She is registered with the British Columbia College of Psychologists and is a supervisor and certified play therapist with Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy. She is a member of the British Columbia Psychological AssociationBritish Columbia Play Therapy Association, the Canadian Register for Health Service Providers in Psychology and the Canadian Psychological Association. She is a member of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (board), the BC Hear the Child Society (roster) and AnxietyBC.

Dr. Mills received her education at Skidmore College (BA Hons), York University (MA) and she has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Manitoba (Ph.D.). She was the recipient of Province of Ontario Graduate Fellowships and Medical Research Council Grants to support her studies.

Dr. Mills has extensive experience evaluating educational and mental health concerns for children and teens. She has provided services at the Winnipeg Children’s Hospital Child Development Clinic and Child Protection Centre, Government of Manitoba Child Day Care Department, Children With Disabilities Program, Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre, Queen Alexandra Centre for Children’s Health, Ledger House in Victoria, Child and Youth Mental Health in Duncan, BC and has provided psychological consultation to child maltreatment units in Winnipeg and Vancouver Island. She has been an adjunct professor at the University of Winnipeg, University of Manitoba and University of Victoria.

Dr. Mills and ‘Goldendoodle Reilly’ are a Therapy Dog Team with St. John Ambulance.
